Height 6 is 42 mm (without the stacking lip). You only need magnet holes if your baseplate has magnets too.

How it works
- Choose Bin or Baseplate.
- Set the size in 42 mm grid units. A 2 × 1 bin is 83.5 × 41.5 mm.
- Pick the height in 7 mm steps, and optionally compartments, a stacking lip, magnet holes or a label shelf.
- Download the STL and open it in Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer or Cura.
Popular sizes
| Bin | Outside size | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 × 1 × 3 | 41.5 × 41.5 × 21 mm | screws, bits, SD cards |
| 2 × 1 × 6 | 83.5 × 41.5 × 42 mm | pens, cables, small tools |
| 2 × 2 × 6 | 83.5 × 83.5 × 42 mm | tape, glue, batteries |
| 3 × 2 × 9 | 125.5 × 83.5 × 63 mm | larger tools, chargers |
Measuring a drawer? Divide the inside size by 42 mm and round down: that is the number of units for your baseplate. If the plate does not fit on your print bed in one go, print a few smaller plates side by side.
Printing tips
- Print the bin upright with the feet on the bed. No supports needed.
- 2 or 3 walls and 10 to 15 percent infill is strong enough.
- Bins too tight in the baseplate? Set XY compensation (horizontal expansion) to -0.1 mm in your slicer.
- Print many bins in one go on a single plate: it saves time and heating up.

Frequently asked questions
What is Gridfinity?
Gridfinity is an open storage system designed by Zack Freedman. Everything fits on a 42 × 42 mm grid. You print a baseplate for your drawer or workbench and put bins of any size on it. The bins click into place and can also be stacked.
Does this fit other Gridfinity bins and baseplates?
Yes. The generator follows the standard sizes: 42 mm per grid unit, 7 mm per height unit and the standard foot and stacking lip profile. So you can mix the bins with models from Printables or MakerWorld.
Which print settings should I use?
PLA at a 0.2 mm layer height, 2 or 3 walls and 10 to 15 percent infill is plenty. You do not need supports: print the bin upright with the feet on the bed. Print a baseplate flat.
What does a Gridfinity bin cost?
A 2 × 1 bin that is 6 units tall weighs about 30 grams. With filament at 20 euros per kilo that is around 60 cents. A 3 × 3 baseplate costs about 30 cents. Add electricity and wear in the calculator to get the full cost.
Which magnets do I need?
Gridfinity uses round neodymium magnets of 6 mm diameter and 2 mm thick. Press them into the holes under the bin, with a drop of glue if needed. Mind the polarity, or they will push each other away.
